TUMI x Tribeca Film Festival: 19 Degree Experience

This spring, TUMI partnered with the Tribeca Film Festival to give 10 up-and-coming directors the opportunity to film their vision for the “perfect journey.” A panel of notable judges, including industry veterans, actors, and Happy Hearts Fund founder Petra Nemcova, were tasked with vetting the finalists.

On Monday, April 24 at Spring Studios, Petra awarded Bella Monticelli the TUMI 19 Degree Perfect Journey Award for her film featuring rancher, photographer, and writer Craig Johnson. Bella, a graduate of Central St. Martins school in London, directs films, commercials, and music videos through Pretty Bird US. She was one of the youngest network television directors in the UK, directing “Live from Abbey Road,” and has directed several short films that have traveled to festivals worldwide. In 2016, her feature “Par Ici” was shortlisted for the BFI ifeatures program in London.

After congratulating Bella on her award, Petra then surprised her and the audience with an announcement. This summer, Bella will join Petra for a school opening in Nepal to film her perfect journey with Happy Hearts Fund.

“My perfect journey,” Petra said, “is a journey where I can elevate others. For me, if it’s elevating individuals, families, school children, communities, countries, humanity—that is, for me, the perfect journey.”

We thank TUMI for their partnership in helping us rebuild schools, and the Tribeca Film Festival for giving Happy Hearts Fund a platform to share our mission with the world.
