Programs Support Criteria
- Consistency with the HHF mission to improve children's lives through educational and sustainable programs in natural disaster areas, which means:
- Program must focus on children
- Program must focus on education
- Program must ensure the development of a sustainment element (e.g. the opening of a bakery, a handicraft making shop, an organic food distribution, etc)
- Program must be in a disaster affected area
- Programs supported should reach children most in need in the world and should, successively, bring support to their parents and community members through the creation of activities that will empower by making them independent.
- Activities should be created in conjunction with programs that aim to give ownership of the program itself to the benefiting children and communities. This must be realized within a three-year timeframe, at the end of which the program must demonstrate to have become self-sustaining.
- Programs must be realized in safe ways, for example:
- Construction in areas susceptible to earthquakes must be completed in a manner and with materials that makes it earthquake proof
- In disaster affected areas
- Environmentally oriented.
- In order to be considered, programs that fulfill ALL mission-consistency points should submit a grant proposal, of maximum four pages, including explanation and supporting evidence for each point. Grant proposals should justify and explain amount requested and indicate if other organizations are funding that program and, if not, explain how the program is currently supported.
- Organizations funded by HHF must report back to us on a consistent basis with accurate pre-established reports that must indicate outcome and goals achieved. Reports must always include numbers linked to each outcome, which must be updated on a monthly basis in order to ensure continuation of support from HHF, as well as pictures showing results achieved.
- All partners/JVs involved and collaborating in our programs are asked to share and respect these criteria for programs’ support.
