Get to Know Magda Grabos, Communications Intern

Each month we’ll be profiling a member of the Happy Hearts Fund team. Check back to get to know us a little better and find out what goes on behind the scenes at HHF!

Magda Grabos joins us from Binghamton University where she’s a pre-medical student majoring in chemistry. She is JFEW SUNY Scholar and is working under HHF’s Director of Communications, Chelsea Burrell.

Why did you want to intern at Happy Hearts Fund?
I really wanted to intern with this organization because I believe that education is one of the most precious gifts that any child can receive. I fully support HHF’s mission and I wanted to be a part of their efforts to rebuild schools. As the Communications Intern, I am able to help share all the good that HHF is doing around the world.

Tell us about a typical day at the HHF office.
Every day at HHF is slightly different. I work with the Director of Communications & Technology to update all social media outlets. We brainstorm ideas and try to keep the world aware of what’s happening with HHF.

What goes on in your life outside of Happy Hearts Fund?
Outside of Happy Hearts, I am a full time student. I am really involved on campus, serving as a Resident Assistant, a Chemistry Teaching Assistant, a JFEW SUNY Scholar, and a member of the knitting club.

Where do you like to spend your time in New York?
I love the Museum of Natural History, especially the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life. It’s my favorite place to visit whenever I come back home, even though I’ve been there so many times.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself working at a hospital as an Anesthesiologist.

Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I lived in Poland when I was little, and went to preschool there. When we came back to the U.S. my mom enrolled me in Saturday Polish School, which I attended for 7 years.

Summer or winter? Winter! I can’t wait to bring out my skis!
